The short answer

To compare two dental tourism offers fairly, first check that the treatment plans are equivalent, then line up what each includes and excludes, estimate the cost of anything excluded, and compare deposit, refund and follow-up terms. Price only becomes meaningful once everything else is level. How each clinic answered your questions is part of the comparison too.

  • Equivalent plans first, price last.
  • Exclusions and terms often decide which offer is really better value.
  • The quality of the conversation is evidence too.

You have two offers in front of you. One is cheaper. One seems more thorough. Your instinct may be to choose on price, or on gut feeling. There's a better way, and it takes about half an hour.

Step 1: Check the plans are equivalent

Before anything else, confirm that both offers describe comparable treatment plans. If one clinic proposes a different approach or a different amount of work, you're not comparing like with like yet.

If the plans differ significantly, ask each dentist to explain why. This is a clinical conversation, and it's one of the most useful you can have.

Step 2: Line up the inclusions

List everything each offer includes:

Item Offer A Offer B
Treatment items (itemised)
Consultation and imaging
Temporary work between visits
Accommodation (hotel, nights)
Transfers
Interpreter / coordinator
Medication

Where an offer is silent on an item, mark it as unknown and ask.

Step 3: Identify the exclusions

Now list what each offer explicitly excludes, and estimate what those items might cost you. A lower price with significant exclusions can easily become the more expensive option. See What Does a Quotation Really Include?

Step 4: Compare the terms

Terms are where offers differ most, and where patients look least.

  • Deposit: how much, to whom, and what it secures
  • Refunds: especially if you don't proceed after the in-person examination
  • Plan changes: how a revised plan is priced and agreed
  • Follow-up: what's offered once you're home
  • Validity: how long the price is held

Step 5: Compare the conversation

How each clinic responded to your questions is evidence, too:

  • Were answers clear, complete and in writing?
  • Did they welcome questions or push for a deposit?
  • Did you speak to the person responsible for your treatment?

Insider note: When we look at offers from the inside, the clearest indicator of how a clinic will handle the rest of your journey is often how it handled your questions. Give that real weight.

Now look at price

Only now does price comparison make sense. Ask yourself: given equivalent plans, inclusions, exclusions and terms, which offer represents better value for me?

Sometimes that's the cheaper one. Sometimes it isn't.

Use the worksheet

Our free Dental Quote Analyzer puts up to four offers side by side, totals them, flags what is unclear, and writes the follow-up questions for you. Everything stays in your browser.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked

What if the two clinics propose completely different plans?

Ask each dentist to explain their reasoning. That is a clinical question, and a second opinion from a dentist at home can help you understand the difference.

Should I tell one clinic about another clinic's offer?

You can, but if a clinic revises its price, ask for a new itemised quotation so you can see exactly what changed.

How many offers should I compare?

Two or three is usually enough to see a realistic range. More can make comparison harder rather than easier.
